The new shock from Silva arrived today and it was sort of perfect timing since I was off and had some free time to mess with them. Follow me through this build and I think you will see that they are a decided improvement over the standard VCS shocks that come in most kits today. (They are even better than Silva’s own VCS’s)   Side shocks have been the standard for RC pan cars for a long time but they have not been around since the beginning.

Diff building is not a black art as some think but it is one of the things you need to stay on top of and know how to do correctly because horsepower and handling can be lost there.

In the past I have done a couple of articles on how I build  one using the blue thrust bearing and the old Bud’s (BRP) orange cone but two things  happened that made me want to re-do this “system” and take a look at other options.

I did a “How To” article a few months back on putting together a better battery pack for your transmitter using higher 2500 mAh Energizer NiMH batteries. These have worked very well for me up to now and will hold their charge for a good period of time without recharging. However, with the addition of LiPo batteries into our hobby, it made good since to me to explore the use of these batteries to replace the NiCAD’s.
